The Golf Industry Is Expanding By The Day

Andy West asked:

Each and every year, the game of golf becomes even more popular. Therefore, the golf industry is also expanding at an incredible pace. Golf industry is actually a very broad term that encompasses every single aspect of golf. This could include golf courses, driving ranges, golf lessons, golf stores and everything in between. Since golf in general is becoming so popular, all of these different industries are capitalizing on the popularity of the sport.

Thirty years ago, many people wouldn’t think it was a great idea to open a golf specialty store. But now, almost anywhere you go you could run a successful store just because interest in the sport has sky rocked. Nowadays, it’s a multi-billion dollar business and is getting bigger and more profitable by the day. There are so many different aspects to it that no matter what your skill level or financial situation, you can somehow get involved in the golf business.

One of the factors behind the recent boom in the golf industry is the rise of the popularity of the Internet. Now you can purchase golf clubs, clothes, shoes and anything else online. You can register for golf schools, find out how to start your own golf shop or even watch videos to receive golf tips. The Internet has also made it possible for golfers from the world over to communicate with each other.

The rise of the Internet has created a huge online community of like minded golfers. You are now able to enter chat rooms and discussion groups to discuss your favorite courses, share tips and tricks or just shoot the breeze with like minded people. You can also discuss with other people that you meet online where the best online shops are and also share your personal experiences with them.

The golf industry is getting so large partly because there are so many young golfers getting into the sport these days. It has become commonplace for golf teams to be a part of colleges and Universities and even most high schools now have them. Therefore, people are getting involved in the sport at a younger age and most of them will continue to be involved for years to come.

And since so many younger people are getting involved in the sport, many are also starting golf related businesses at a young age. This in turn serves to make the golf industry even bigger. As these young entrepreneurs start these businesses, they will continue to flourish. And even if they eventually decide not to be involved anymore, they will be able to sell their business for much more than they spent on it. The game of golf shows no signs of slowing down in popularity, so entering the golf industry in any way is a great investment right now.

Even if you don’t wish to start your own golf related business, you can still play a role in the golf industry. There are many jobs available at golf courses that don’t require you to be a professional golfer but will still allow you to be near your favorite sport all day long. You can work on the beautiful grounds, work in the pro shop or if you are quite adept at the sport, even offer instruction to others. No matter what your skill level may be, there is a place for you in the booming golf industry that is only going to get bigger by the year.

I am selling my old driver on ebay and instead of just offering local pick up I’d like to be able to post it if necessary.

However I can’t seem to find a place to buy a shipping box for it.

Can anyone help?

Put Your Name Or Initials On Your Golf Balls

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Mike Pedersen asked:

Just like every other product in the market, having your own logo is a good way to represent your college, company or even yourself. Whether if it is for advertising purposes, company tournaments, charity events, or just showing off. Having your own logo golf balls would get you an amazing amount of exposure.

A personalized golf ball will add appeal to the golfer, whether you’re a pro or just for the looks of swinging the ball, it is easier for you and everyone else to distinguish your ball from others. The good thing about these is that, there are golf shops that offer golf balls at a discounted prize. It allows you to save up and have a ball fit for the occasion.

If you are planning to splurge on your golfing career, another great idea would be buying high class golf balls with a personal touch. Why settle for discounted ones if you can get the finest balls to choose from? Whatever purpose it may be these same shops offers customized swoosh balls and the like.

Customizing is not as hard as it sounds like. There are a bunch of stores online that sells golf equipment for your own personal convenience. You can scan your design and just wait for the package to be delivered at your doorsteps. Another would be that some sport houses and manufacturers offers direct selling of logo golf balls.

Designing your own logo is pretty much an enjoyable thing to do since there are a wide variety of designs to choose from and the possibilities are endless!
Different colleges in a university conduct a golf tournament annually and get the chance to have their school color and college insignia on their own golf ball. Not only is it a good souvenir but it’s a great way to advertise your own colleges.

There are alumni’s who uses their college golf ball to exhibit their colleges while they play. It is good to remember the good old days but nothing beats showing off to the world that you graduated in that particular university while having a round with your friends.

Companies also have their own golf balls to commemorate events, for holidays, outings and job promotion. More often than not, these are given in classy little glass cases so that it can be displayed somewhere.

Especially that, golf balls are very durable, displaying it would make it last the person for the rest of his life.

Furthermore, it gives a long lasting impression when it comes to marketing. Carrying out the company name or the logo you wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to market your company.

Believe it or not, whether the person you gave that golf ball to plays golf or not, that golf ball stays with him for a long time. Top firms always go for the best, corporate giveaways at its best.

Imagine handing out a box of Titleist logo golf balls with your company’s name on it. It hits two birds at once, leaving an impression of class and standards.

Taking Some Good Advice From A Golf Pro

Sunday, May 25th, 2008
golf shop
James Brown asked:

Even an avid golfer will have questions that need answers and they will turn to the golf pro at their favorite golf course to get answers. Some of the questions might concern the sale of equipment at the golf shop and others might entail more serious matters like how they can get scheduled for an earlier tee time. They know that the golf pro is the person that they should turn to concerning any matter about the game of golf.

Some golfers simply want to improve their putting skills. The golf pro might give them good advice on how to improve their stance because the way the body is positioned has a lot to do with determining the direction that the ball will go when it is hit by the putter on any part of the golf course. Other helpful advice offered by the golf pro might include when the use of a putter is considered appropriate.

A new golfer will find that taking some good advice from the golf pro will ensure that they learn about the game from somebody who is considered an expert. The golf pro can put a new golfer on their schedule and through weekly practice sessions, offer them advice on how to stand, swing, and store their golfing equipment. The golf pro will routinely hold classes throughout the week for new golfers.

There are many different choices in golf clubs that a golfer can select and some of those selections can be quite confusing. These golf clubs are usually displayed in the Pro Shop along with various golf shirts and golf accessories. When taking some good advice from the golf pro about the clubs that they should select, the golfer should be ready to order golf clubs when the golf pro shows them the right-sized golf clubs that he recommends that they buy from him.

The new designs in golf clubs will not typically last long in a golf pro shop. The golf pro advises all players about them through a weekly newsletter or word of mouth. Some of the new selections will be irons but there will be several styles offered for woods. Knowing which ones to purchase is one of the finest pieces of advice that a new golfer can get from the golf course golf professional.

For those golfers that learn to pay attention to conversations that people have on the course, they might overhear helpful advice that someone else heard from the golf pro. Many of these tips will help improve their game average because the advise will be about how to get a ball out of the rough or the best way to hit a golf ball when it is sitting on an incline. The golf pro might even tell them some personal preferences on hitting a ball down a fairway. Any advice from the golf pro is advice that should at least be listened to and written down later in the day.

Ladies Golf Club Fititng - What You Need To Know

Sunday, May 25th, 2008
golf shop
Brad Myers asked:

Ladies, if you have recently bought any new equipment, you are very aware that the options for ladies golf club fitting is very small compared to the men. You can still receive a proper ladies golf club fitting however, you may need to look a little deeper. Let.s talk about if you need to have a ladies golf club fitting, why the golf clubs in the golf shop usually are not for you and how to find a qualified ladies club fitter.

No matter your skill level, you need to have a ladies golf club fitting done prior to any equipment purchase. A qualified club fitter will be able to match your swing speed and body type to the proper shaft, length of club, lie angle of club, grip, etc. Why does all of this matter? With a proper ladies golf club fitting the result will be a set of clubs that fit you. In turn this means that you will not need to manipulate the club and you will be able to swing it more freely. This will lead to more consistent golf shots, lower scores and more fun for you!

Do not blame your Golf Professional for not having your exact specs in stock. Here is a quick business lesson. The manufacturing companies are coming out with new sets of golf clubs and drivers quicker than they did just five years ago. This makes it more difficult for your golf shop to “sell through” the product. To combat this, golf shops have ordered more of the measurements that fit the “mainstream.” Most golfers are fit into a club that is a little longer and a little more upright than “the mainstream standards.” Another reason you probably will not find your specifications in the golf shop is that overall, golf shops have started carrying less inventory. Why? As club fitting has become more and more popular, the manufactures have stepped up to the plate and will build and ship the ordered product within three days! Thus, it makes more sense to carry a smaller inventory on high dollar low profit margin items.

You will need to find a PGA Professional who is qualified in ladies golf club fitting. How do you do this? You can go to PGA.com and look for a professional in your area. Call your local club or golf shop and ask for someone who is their expert with a ladies golf club fitting. In addition, ask your friends who they have used to receive a ladies golf club fitting. Once you find a name or two, call them or stop by to meet them prior to the ladies golf club fitting. Make sure the fitting will be held outdoors and they have fitting clubs that match the manufacturer that you are interested in purchasing.

Once the ladies golf club fitting is over, the PGA Professional should be able to explain how he or she came up with the correct club or clubs for you. This will include the proper length of the club, the proper lie angle of the golf club as well as the proper grip size.

This article has given you the information on a ladies golf club fitting, why the golf clubs in the golf shop usually are not for you and how to find a qualified ladies club fitter. Finding a qualified PGA golf club fitter that can get you into a set that matches you and your swing WILL make the game much easier for you!

The Rich Don’t Need Golf Discounts - Do They?

Sunday, May 18th, 2008
golf shop
Kennard McGill asked:

Do rich people need golf discounts?

I suppose they don’t even think about anything with the word discount attached to it? Maybe the rich people who golf have so much money that the thought of golf discounts never enters their mind?

With all the expenses that go into playing a round of golf like green fees, cart fees, golf balls, new golf clubs if necessary, do they even care what all that cost.

Conventional wisdom says that only the rich play golf. While it might be an expensive game to play, it’s not just for the rich.

Perhaps television and radio personalities like Rush Limbaugh or Samuel Jackson who are avid golfers and pretty good golfers to add don’t need golf discounts. But, for the average Joe who has to eke out living finding discounts is almost like finding money on the street - you look around and grab it before anybody else does.

And of course, not all rich people pay for a round of golf every time they hit the links. They could belong to a country club where their green fees are apart of their pricey membership dues sometimes adding up to more than what some families earn in a year.

When you’re not rich you pay attention to words like refund, even exchange, and money back guarantee. Those words mean a heck of a lot to the not so rich who want every bang for their buck.

As an avid golfer, you might spend hundreds of dollars on rounds of golf throughout the year. Shopping online at a golf shop or your local pro shop is routine.

For the high handicap golfer you would probably spend a lot of time looking for new golf balls because you lost a half-dozen on the front nine due to your mean slice that sends your tee shot into the woods never to be found again.

So you need the occasional golf discount on golf balls or a golf driver that is more forgiving. And unless you have a ton of cash like the rich, golf discounts are probably the only way to continue financing your golf habit on the cheap, no matter how bad your game.

What’s your way out if you are not rich? You could one day play well enough to qualify for a sponsors’ exemption on the big tour, win a golf tournament and get tons of endorsements and free golf equipment. Farfetched maybe, but until then you keep looking for the best golf discounts you can find to play the game you love.
