Benefits of Golf Putting Training Aids

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Joe Stewart asked:

Golf putting training aids helps a golfer to putt better. The whole point of the game is to get the ball in the hole and, unless you learn to putt well, your game may struggle. Putting can be challenging, even for pro golfer’s some days. If you’ve ever watched golf tournaments on television you’ll know what I’m talking about. However, there’s nothing more beautiful than watching a golfer sink a long, difficult putt for eagle. There are several different types of training aids on the market that will help you a lot, as a beginner or a pro.

Software

There is now specially designed software available to help with putting accuracy. Many of these different types of software are modern, state of the art applications. There are several that are either currently being used or have been used by PGA pro’s. These guys have coaches, trainers, equipment and everything else imaginable under the sun to give them as much of a competitive edge as possible. Getting on the tour these days is NOT easy and neither is STAYING on it, with a new wave of talented young men and women coming on board (or trying too) every year.

Visit your local golf shop or do a search online for “golf putting software” or “golf training software”, with or without the quotes, and you should be able to find several to choose from.

Golf sticks

Golf sticks are becoming the new center of attraction. The style of making the sticks is becoming sophisticated. Variety in color, design and application is seen in the sticks and maintains the crucial triangular relation between arms and grip. This takes the wrists out of the stroke, and promotes the coveted pendulum swing.

The main feature of these putters may include the alignment system. As the golfer stands over the putter, he or she must link the lines to create a perfect circle, which when lined up gives proper lob, lie, hand position and face angles. Each putter comes with a free Bickler. The two together promises to be a potent aid for those who grapple with putting strokes.

Nike recently entered the market with a new line designed for the “better player”. These were to be used and endorsed by Tiger Woods, although there’s no word on how they’re working out yet.

Swing aids

Golf Swing aids training tools encourage a specific wrist action, which works in an up and down manner, not from side to side. Swing aids help to maintain a square club face during the swing and to maximize power that is developed from the hand and wrist action. By using a swing aid it will help you to get a feel for the correct swing path and swing plane. Many of these can be used both in hitting balls and practice swings.

Many Golf putting training aids come with a lot of equipment, such as a putting cup wedge, putting cup, putting arc, putting mat, variety of putting greens and more. Each instrument has a different function. A good golf putting training aid is truly a golfers best friend.

A Guide to Choosing Golf Clubs

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Bill Wright asked:

It can be tricky choosing a new golf club, so why not take a look at some of our pointers below

Whether you are new to the game of golf or a seasoned pro, buying clubs can be a minefield. Golf has grown ever more popular and there is a whole array of equipment to choose from both on the internet and from specialist golf shops. Choosing golf clubs can be one of the most tedious jobs for a golfer, as it can be a laborious task, but it is essential for good play.

• In golf a person can use 14 different types of clubs. Therefore, to gather an effective set of golf clubs, you must primarily acquire an essential knowledge about the different types and specialties of each type of club

• Clubs are generally available in different types namely - woods, irons, wedges, bennets, hybrids and putters. Each club has unique characteristic type of ball movement. The unique combination of the different types of clubs will make a perfect set of golf clubs. The type of club to be used, has to be decided based on various reasons, such as your proficiency in the game and physical characteristics, since a club is not used alike by a beginner and professional. If you are a beginner, learning to play strokes, you could include the hybrid type of clubs, which will make the stroke much easier

• Approach a new golf club with caution. Just because the brand has been heavily advertised does not necessarily mean it is the best. If a golf club is expensive, it has to be for a reason. Is it just because a lot of money has been spent on the advertising of it, or is it actually technically better?

• Shop around ? pick out a club you like the look of and practice a few swings. Check to see whether it is the right weight and length for you. Does the grip hug your palms?

• If you’re thinking of taking the sport more seriously you could look into the possibility of getting some clubs made especially for you. That way you can make sure they fit perfectly. Most golf club sets off the rack are designed to fit the average person, but few of us have an average profile; we all have our own unique shape and size

• Not all golf clubs have top be expensive. If they are, you need to ask yourself whether your level at the game and the frequency you play it warrants paying a large amount of money for them. If you are a beginner, learning to play strokes, you can include the hybrid type of clubs, which will make the stroke much easier

A division of Confidence Sporting Goods, inc., the famous manufacturer from Palm Springs, California, we have been making quality sporting goods for 35 years. We sell a huge range of sports equipment, including golf clubs. Because we sell directly to you, you can expect to save up to 70% on normal retail prices when buying from us.

What You Should Know About Golf Club Fitting

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008
golf shop
Max Johnson asked:

Golf club fitting can be a quick and easy way for you to improve your golf game. If you are looking for a driver, a hybrid or an entire set of irons, what should you consider to make sure you are happy with your new golf club or golf clubs?

Your golf equipment is very personal choice for you and as your clubs work for you, that is all that matters. No matter your skill level, you must like the club head design when you take your set up. If you do not feel like you can make a good swing with a club, you probably will not. What else should you consider when looking for new golf equipment? Here are a few more ideas.

1. How do I find a qualified club fitter? I would retort with how do you find other professionals like doctors, dentists, etc.? Ask other fellow golfers, your friends and co-workers about experiences they had had good or bad. Also contact local golf shops and ask to speak to a qualified fitter. Ask him or her how the process of the club fitting will go and make sure you are comfortable with the professional.

Once you have found your golf club fitter, it is important that you armed with the proper questions to ask your fitter. In addition, remember the fitter is there to help you so do not be afraid to ask any question you might have. The proper questions to ask prior to or during your fitting are as follows:

1.Is the professional certified by a major manufacturer to fit their clubs?

2.How experienced is the PGA Professional?

3.Will I be fit outdoors to see the entire ball flight?

4.Does the PGA Professional have a fitting cart or multiple fitting carts with what you are looking for (Mens, Ladies, steel, graphite, right-handed, left-handed clubs) available?

5.What will the session cost?

6.If I purchase the clubs from you, will the cost of the club fitting be put towards the purchase?

7.Will a launch monitor be used during the session?

8.How the professional came to the conclusion of your specs? Make sure you understand how the conclusion is achieved and make sure you understand the logic.

2. With all of the golf club offerings available, you need to acknowledge your skill level. Each golf club manufacturer has offerings for low to high handicappers. As a high handicap golfer, you need to become familiar with the center of gravity or the CG of the club. You will want a low center of gravity as this will help you get the golf ball into the air and typically results in more distance.

The golf club manufacturers lower the center of gravity by moving weight around on or within the club head. With an iron head, the CG will be lowered by using perimeter weighting on a set of irons. It is harder to see how the CG is manipulated in most drivers, as the manufactures relocate weight inside the head of the driver. The lower your golf handicap, the center of gravity can get higher in the club head. A higher center of gravity will allow you to intentionally hit golf shots which make the ball move left or right.

3. It is important that you are able to hit the clubs off of real turf during a golf club fitting in order to see the entire ball flight before you decide to purchase a driver or a set of irons. In addition, buy your clubs from a PGA Professional that will use a launch monitor. The launch monitor will reveal such statistics such as swing speed and the golf ball”s spin rate. This will allow the club fitter to find the correct shaft for you.

Having a properly fit set of golf clubs is an easy way to improve your golf game. With the information in this article, you are well armed to find the correct certified golf club fitter, how to become comfortable with your fitter and what questions to ask to insure you receive a proper golf club fitting. You will be shooting lower scores with your new clubs very soon.

Three Steps for a Productive Golf Lesson

Sunday, September 21st, 2008
golf shop
Dane Stanton asked:

It’s been many months now of weekly practice our there on the golf course taking shot after shot. Unfortunately you still haven’t improved your handicap. Your short game is hopeless, driving inaccurate and you just can’t sink a putt to save your life. What do you do? You decide to take a golf lesson or two.

There are three main points that you need to take into consideration when it comes to choosing and getting the most out of your golf lessons. One, the choice of instructor, two coming prepared to the lesson and three, the expectations you must have of yourself after each lesson is finished.

Instructor

Your golf lesson is a valuable investment of your time, energy and hard earned money. Therefore, the first step towards getting the most out of your golf lesson is locating and working with the right instructor. The pro at the golf shop may not necessarily be the right coach for you. Ask your fellow golfers for recommendations on who they may have heard is a good instructor or who they have personally used for a golf lesson.

The next step is to find an instructor whose qualifications match your current level of play. In other words, you don’t need a highly qualified instructor to teach you the basics of golfing.

In addition, to gain the optimum benefits of your golf lesson, it is important that you are comfortable with your instructor’s personality and style of teaching. A good personality and teaching style should consist of encouragement, patience and the challenging of the student in a positive manner.

Finally, on choosing your instructor, make sure that the length of their availability matches the number of lessons you wish to take. There is nothing worse than going through this process, being comfortable with the instructor and then finding out that they are not available after the second or third lesson.

Preparation

It is highly important that you come to each one of your lessons with a series of questions prepared. Take note after each round of the things you need the most help with. Take a scrapbook and jot down after every misplaced shot what exactly you did with your swing and how you felt when you played the stroke.

It is extremely important that you practice everything you have been taught in between golf lesson sessions. This means that every time you go to a range or play out on a course you are constantly applying what you have been taught for every shot you make. Don’t just think that by going to a few lessons, you will automatically start to play better.

Finally, make sure that you are mentally prepared for the lesson to be given. Have all of your needed tools and equipment with you and remember that what we generally get out of something is in proportion to what we give.

Your Own Expectations

At the conclusion of each lesson you should have reached some sort of goal or expectation that you had of yourself. Whether this means you found the answers to every one of the questions you had for your instructor or maybe you hit further than you’ve ever hit before. Whatever it is, just make sure you know beforehand so you have something to strive for.

Constantly ask you instructor for feedback and make sure you tell him/her to be blunt with you right from the very beginning. Constructive criticism is very important if you want to see vast improvements in your game.

Also, expect assignments and practice techniques that can be implemented to correct certain aspects of your golf game. Follow through on these assignments and practice these techniques as often as possible knowing that it is in practice we improve the skill level.

VatoLoco23 asked:

I am currently playing with my Great Grandfathers 1942 Northwestern Woods and Irons (shot a 109 on Wednesday!! Ouch!). Haven’t played in a few years and just picked the game back up. I’m going to “2nd Swing” Golf Shop on Monday and don’t know what the difference is between brands. Modestly priced please!! I tend to slice the ball and am hitting my driver about 175-190yds. I would like some added distance, but control is what I NEED! SOMEONE HELP before I spend $1000 on clubs that I hate!

Used Golf Clubs - Check Your Used Golf Clubs Whip And Twist

Monday, September 15th, 2008
golf shop
Martin Haworth asked:

What might look the used golf club bargain deal of the month to you, as it stares out appealingly to you from the golf shop display, might not be all it seems.

One pitfall for buyers of used golf clubs, especially if they are a bit inexperienced, is to be seduced by looks rather than the technical aspects of the clubs. So, it is always important to understand whether they will be suitable for you and your capabilities and style of play.

Because what looks a bargain, may not always be as it seems. It is worth checking for more.

Used Golf Clubs - What’s The Twist Like?

The ‘twist’ in a set of used golf clubs is a measure of how good you will have to be to get the best out of them. How can that be, the clubs are dictating to me that I have to be of a certain standard before I can use them then? Yes, that’s right!

The whip is where there is movement between the grip of the club and the head. By holding the grip in one hand and the head in the other, you can see just how much twist there is in the club. Generally the twist in one club in a set is similar. When you buy a set of used golf clubs, it’s important to check this ‘twist’ effect out.

The more the twist between the head of the club and the shaft (of which you are holding the grip), the greater the possibility there is to hit the ball out of line as the head hits the ball. If there is less twist, then you are more likely to have a better chance to hit the ball straight.

Used Golf Clubs - How Much Whip?

There is yet another thing you need to check on when buying a set of used golf clubs. Some clubs have a built in problem that makes them quite challenging to use.

If you take hold of the grip of the club and waggle it quickly and sharply backwards and forwards, you will be able to see just how much the club head moves differently from the grip end. If there is a lot of ‘whip’, then you can imagine how difficult it can be to control.

Sometimes you might be very interested in a set of used golf clubs, with large heads at the end of the shaft. With these clubs with the heavy head, you might think that will be a benefit. The problem is that these clubs can be more difficult to control and can be quite unforgiving if you are slightly off line.

It’s worth paying attention to this possible variation in the used golf clubs you might be thinking of buying, because, whatever the bargain, if you are not ready yet in terms of your capability, you might find you play even worse than you did with your older, much more controllable clubs.
