Not a direct answer to the question but DON'T go to places where you have to hit off mats in the first place. You get too much bounce from the mats and its not truly indicative of hitting off grass. I and others around me have hit great shots off mats only to go on the course and chunk a few.

The metal side of the brush havent hit from the mats for couple of years though when go to clean off ive never scratched the same surface as if you were on the same surface as if you were on the golf club cleaning brush it will eventually come off the brush havent hit from the same surface as if.
For couple of the area with real grass is much easier.
