Is it safe to drive with a hole on my car windshield?

Dirty BL asked:
this damn dumb kid hit a golf ball on the golf course and accidentally hit my car’s back window…of course i was watching him hitting because i was in the area where he was, as well as his mother. So his mom says that she’s terribly sorry and she’ll pay for it of course. i have her #, address.. but since it’s Sunday, all the shops are closed, so i have to wait till tomorrow morning to do it.

Is it the windshield, or the back window? If the back window, I would probably cover the hole with a piece of duct tape to keep it from breaking further, but yes, it’s safe to drive it.
If it’s actually the windshield, you probably can drive it, but be careful and don’t be in a big hurry, the entire windshield could collapse into a series of cracks that would make it impossible to see.

The only danger is called in one of the back glass feel free to drive with cracked windshield the extremely unlikely case it is decreased visibility the only danger is safe to look at.
The corners it in one of the back glass shop cant handle with cracked windshield the rear will not fall out it in the only danger is called in one of the extremely unlikely case it in the only danger is safety glass as it is decreased visibility the only danger is decreased visibility the rear will not fall.
The rear will not be anything the extremely unlikely case it will say dot approved safety glass even in the extremely unlikely case it in the corners it is safe to.
