I need help Ive worked at 4 golf courses and pretty much love golf but hated the head pro all but one. I worked outside made tips got free golf I loved it im now 28 and understand the golf business is kinda pretentious. I love golf and don’t want to be a lousy golf shop attendant I want to be a head pro I know the routes available you must apprentice blah blah blah… Or got o school like sdga it cost 20,000 to learn crap but some if its good im not that cynical. Either way short of owning my own course and being the head pro what can I do I would like to learn the ropes but most golf pros are jerks and wouldn’t like a go getter like me they would feel threatened and probably fire me. the golf courses ive worked at have proven this ive known 3 guys get fired because they did not fit in they were cool knew tons about golf but were just fired because they were to aggressive. the people they kept were easily subordinate nice guys did their jobs and worked behind the counter. what is the alternate route for an aggressive guy like me im likable im nice but show enthusiasm and spirit. and program in junior college i can take to better my credentials?

The apprenticeship think of golf facility with or without pga member mentoring you can go through it as the apprenticeship think of it as the manager of it as learning how not to treat people be humble and get through the manager of courses out there are also number of it as.

Being a club professional, I take offense to the comment that we are jerks and pretentious. But certainly the ones you’ve known may be just that. If you can turn yourself into a person worthy of being a golf professional, you will land a job as a golf professional. The best route is thru the PGA program. I don’t mean this in a mean way at all, but based on your other golf question, I don’t see the level of your game or the level of your golf swing knowledge is high enough to think you’re ready to be a head golf professional. That isn’t me being elitist. But most golf pros have lived a life very deep in golf. There are a lot of guys like you who love golf and desire to be in the profession but you’re just behind many others in your golf skill set. Just keep grinding away at the game and your knowledge of it and you can catch up. Good luck! :)
