What is the best value in a golf club set?

hotstuff asked:

I have been golfing with an $80 golf club set for years now… they’re crappy clubs and i shoot in the mid-lower 90’s with them over 18. I’m looking for a new set, but not sure what i should get. I don’t want a real expensive set of clubs, but i need something that isn’t cheap like the ones i have now. I’m thinking under $600. Anyone have any advice? Are clone clubs any good? Used clubs?

Also for what it’s worth, i’m 6 foot 5 inches, and my current clubs are way too short for me.
