Where is the better place to stay in Bahamas Nassau or Freeport?

I am planning a wedding in the bahamas in November of this year (2010) I have never been to the Bahamas so I’m not sure what Island is better to stay on. All I plan on doing is laying on the beach & shopping. Not for tourist junk but clothes & shoes shopping! And my boyfriend will be into water sports & golf.

      nassau. i have been to both several time…freeport is not very appealing to the eye.

      Yes, Paradise Island is great (Atlanis, awesome if you can afford it)
      BUT
      Further down is Turks and Caicos and it’s gorgeous.

      well Nassau is more of a tourist place so it is way busy, freeport is actually very dead , but i do HIGHLY recommend you go to abaco bahamas or eleuthra. they are great bahamian islands with not as much tourist as freeport and Nassau plus u can shop and you get to see the true and real bahamas.

      definitely nassau! freeport is soo dead.

      in nassau:
      your shopping = bay street (there’s Gucci, Coach, and our John Bull for jewelry, perfume, makeup etc)

      boyfriend’s interests = ATLANTIS!! it’s on Paradise Island. no other resort is better for these.
